The company, which is a subsidiary of Gemini Press, has said that the new machine has substantially increased its die-cutting capacity.
Previously the company was running two Cylinder machines, one with 1,000 sph capacity and one with 2,500 sph capacity.
Nigel Holmes, chairman at Gemini, said: "We needed to increase both our flexibility and speed of cutting and creasing. We will use the Varimatrix primarily for folders and ticket wallets but it also opens up new opportunities for other die-cut products.
"Overall the Varimatrix enables us to supply customers with an even higher quality finish at speed and with great accuracy."
Gemini's new machine can run at speeds of up to 7,500 sph. It can handle sheets of 370 x 400m to 750 x 1050mm and stocks of 80gsm to 1,400 gsm, as well as cartonboard up to 4mm thick.
The company can now offer a complete finishing service for B1 sheets. As well as die-cutting Gemini offers services including lamination spot UV.
Gemini Press handles a broad range of work including mail order, maps and travel brochures. The company employs more than 200 staff.
