Fuji launched its Lanovia Quattro professional flatbed scanner at Newstec this week.
The oversize A3 machine, which produces 40 scans per hour, is positioned below the firms top-of-the-range Lanovia C-550.
"Its aimed at small- to medium-sized printers who need the quality but not the productivity," said Fuji technical pre-sales manager Mark Jarvis.
The Quattro is an XY scanner with a top optical resolution of 5,000dpi. It uses a series of fixed lenses and software interpolation to achieve intermediate resolution scans.
Dynamic range is 3.9D and it features 16-bit per channel A/D conversion.
It also features a separate monochrome CCD, which enables it to scan the full bed at 1,200dpi in a single pass for lineart and copydot work.
The 19,000 machine, which ships in July, comes with Fujis ColourKit Scan Once Output Many (SOOM) software.
