Fuji has launched what promises to be the lowest-priced XY scanner on the market, which will be distributed in the UK by Heidelberg desktop scanner agent CPS.
At 6,500 and with a resolution of 2,743dpi and productivity of 15 scans per hour, the FineScan 2750 undercuts other entry-level XY scanners such as the CreoScitex EverSmart
Jazz and the Microtek Artix-scan 6000XY.
"We needed to broaden what we're doing to grow the business," said CPS managing director Bill Johnstone. "At the moment we have a hole in our product portfolio between the Linoscan F2400 and the Nexscan.
"It's a positive move for us and I hope Heidelberg sees it in the same way."
CPS hopes to add further Fuji products to its range, including digital cameras and proofers, which serve its design and pre-press customers.
"We don't want to be a broad-based distributor, but a value-added reseller offering support and service," said Johnstone.
