Fuji looks set to enter the DI press market with a version of the Ryobi 3404 B3 press, which was launched at Drupa.
It provided the funding for the development of the imaging system for the press, which was developed by Presstek, and has rights to market a version under its own brand.
Presstek has OEM rights for the 3404 and according to vice president sales & marketing Efrem Lieber: Several very large companires are looking at the press for inclusion in their porfolios because of its compact size, ease of use, easy digital connectivity and automation. Fuji is one of them and has the option to sell the press on a non-exclusive basis.
It will pay Fuji a royalty for the press, in exchange for the two firms renegotiating the development contract to allow the press to be shown at Drupa.
