Friary Press opts for Xpose! platesetters

Friary Press has ordered a fully automatic double-engined Lscher CTP system for its Dorchester factory.

The company stuck with long-term pre-press equipment supplier Turning Point Technologies (TPT), signing up for two Xpose! 130 platesetters with inline punching and robotic plate handling.

"We considered CTP machines from a number of major players in the market, including Kodak, Agfa and Fuji," said Friary Press operations director Brian Garrett (pictured).

"However, we have worked with TPT over many years and in the end, the decision was made on the strength of our working relationship with it."

The twin-engined configuration was chosen to make sure that Friary Presses' plate-making department could keep the firm's battery of presses, which includes two B1 long perfectors, a Komori Lithrone S40 10-colour and an eight-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster, as well as a number of two-colour machines.
