The fire at the Edinburgh-based print plant, which also prints The Scotsman, broke out at around 10.40am and was quickly extinguished by a member of staff, according to a report in The Scotsman.
A fire engine was called to the site by the automatic alarm system, but it was not needed in the end.
A spokeswoman for Caledonian Offset said that reports of the fire had been "grossly exaggerated", and declined to comment further.
This is the third incident of fire reported at the plant since 2002. In March that year, a folder and part of the plant's Goss Colorliner were damaged in a blaze which firemen fought for two hours.
Last May, firefighters battled for five hours with a blaze which began in a ventilation duct and caused severe smoke damage to the pressroom.
