Films specialist GBC launches material for cold laminating

Finishing and consumables manufacturer GBC has met growth in solvent printers with a new range of cold lamination films for indoor and outdoor applications, such as posters and display graphics.

It said Arctic Cold lamination films, which are processed between 40 and 50C, are a 'cool' solution for heat-sensitive inkjet output.

Cold laminators are used when the product is sensitive to heat, which can result in inks melting.

The films are targeted at firms using solvent printers, such as the large-format Seiko Seron3206DS or the Mimaki JV3.

The new range has been designed for the manufacturer's series of entry-level laminators up to its professional GBC Tuscan-1 model.

The Arctic Cold range include Arctic Universal, a gloss and matt pressure-sensitive film suitable for indoor and short-term outdoor applications.

The collection also includes Arctic Sand, a sand-textured PVC-based pressure sensitive film and Arctic Floor Matt, a scratch-and-slip resistant film designed for floor graphics.

"We've been known as producers of hot lamination for a long time, but it's time to further establish ourselves in cold lamination," said Giel Klinkers, marketing and sales director of GBC Digital Print Finishing Solutions.

He added: "Finishing is no longer just part of the print process – it helps add value to the product. The Arctic range broadens our offering and gives people the choice of lamination."
