The 1,020mm Centurion2 is specifically, but not exclusively, targeted at the 102 format market. It can manage sheets from 250x280mm to 1,020x1,400mm at up to 60m per minute.
"The unit was created to increase productivity levels without compromising on flexibility," said GBC marketing manager Giel Klinkers. "This makes the Centurion2 available for a wide range of applications."
The single-sided laminator is made up of a feeder, laminator, separator and stacker. The whole system is controlled via a centrally located control panel.
The Centurion2's airshaft enables rolls of laminating stock to be easily loaded and adjusted. It comes with an adjustable slitter to keep waste to a minimum. The machine also comes with the option of a closed-circuit water cooling system with chill roller.
"Thermal lamination is a an environmentally and operator-friendly solution and guarantees, when combined with our films, consistent quality," said Klinkers.
As well as the Centurion2, GBC has launched two laminating films. Its new matt OPP film (8326), with scuff-resistant features, offers improved binding and folding to decrease spine lifting.
The other new product is matt scuff-free film (8300). It uses a polypropylene film with an abrasion-resistant coating.
"In developing new equipment and consumables, our first concern is always to address the needs of our customers," said Klinkers. The first Centurion2 has already been installed at Cartotechnica in Italy.
