Trader Media Group, parent company of motoring website and magazine Auto Trader, announced the 90-day consultation yesterday (31 March), which could affect 125 employees at the site.
However, it said would not comment further on exactly how many roles will be affected.
TMG said readers and advertisers have continued to move from its traditional print products to its fast-growing online operations and therefore the announcement is part of an ongoing restructuring operation.
The company said: "TMG regrets any job losses, but the changes are necessary given the shift in media consumption by motorists and increased competition.
"The reorganisation is designed to improve the performance and efficiency of the business to meet the changing needs of its trade and consumer customers, and to continue to support third party printing contracts."
Phil Morgan, Unite regional officer, said that around 125 staff could be affected by the announcement.
"The company claims that there has been a significant reduction in their print run [of Auto Trader]," he said.
In June last year, TMG closed its Wiltshire print plant, resulting in 154 job losses.
