The 1.6m-wide machine, which was supplied by I-Sub Digital, was installed at the Nottingham-based firm’s premises last week and joins two existing Mimaki printers – a JV33-160 and a JV34-260.
The JV150-160 can print at speeds of up to 56.2sqm/hr at a maximum resolution of 1,440dpi. The device can be used for applications including signage, banners, posters, POS, stickers, decals, labels, vehicle graphics, backlit and exhibition graphics.
Fast Graphics managing director Tony Bates said: “Just lately we’ve got very very busy – originally this was going to be a replacement but we thought we needed to go up a notch and this is a fair bit faster than our other machines, we think by about 30%.
“Our machines have tended to run 24 hours and we thought we could really do with getting a bit more capacity in. I’ve always found Mimaki to be good and reliable over the years and this is a super machine.”
He added: “We’ve also upgraded our RIP for the three printers; we weren’t previously using Mimaki’s own RasterLink RIP. We didn’t know how smoothly that would go but our guys have said it has been effortless and there hasn’t been a problem.”
Fast Graphics has 10 staff and serves clients including Nottingham City Council, Nottingham College and De Montfort University. The business also operates two Mimaki cutting plotters and a Rollsroller flatbed applicator.
