Face Creative invests in face of recession with folding equipment buy

Digital printer Face Creative has said that companies must keep investing in the current financial climate, following a 30,000 spend.

The London-based printer upgraded its folding facilities with a new DigifFold 5000P from Morgana and added a new service with the installation of a Scott tabbing machine.

Face Creative managing director Colin Harding said it was essential to keep investing despite the recession.

"We will not be making investments in big equipment, but you have to keep the wheels of change moving along. You have to invest in little bits to add to your potential offerings," he said.

The £3m-turnover company has replaced an existing DigiFold model with its new machine. Harding claims that the 5000P is four times as fast as its predecessor.

"We have been waiting for this machine for a long time," he said. "We can now meet deadlines better. Each print job has a number of stages and the folding stage is now just another part of the process, rather than a potential problem."

Harding does not believe that his new tabbing machine will see as much use as the new folder. However, he still sees it as a crucial investment.

He said: "It is useful to have. There is not a huge demand, but it is one more thing that we can offer. People want to ring up and have a problem solver at the other end of the line, rather than calling and wondering if you they will need to go elsewhere. This investment helps us become more of a complete solution."
