It offers a combination of white printing, Matan’s patented 8-colour PDS technology and a range of other features and options. It first launched last October at SGIA 2013 and is available at 3 metres and 5 metres wide.
The Israeli firm has also shown its new Vacuum Plate System at the show, which it launched in March. This can be attached to the Barak 8QW to enable the machine to print on thin sheets and boards up to 1.5x3 metres.
The optional addition can be installed onto the Barak 8QW, as well as the iQ and 8Q models, and then easily dismantled after use.
President and CEO Hanan Yosefi said: “This is the first hybrid printer in the world that has a vacuum plate on a roll-to-roll. It can print on a wide variety of substrates and we have hundreds of customers worldwide that are using the product for a very wide variety of applications.”
Another additional option for the Barak 8QW is the Inline Finishing system, which enables printing, trimming and sheeting in a single workflow during the printing process.
The cost of the Barak 8QW is around €300,000 (£243,000) depending on the size of the printer, with the additional vacuum plate costing around €30,000 (£24,300). Matan has sold two Barak 8QW printers during the show.
Fujifilm is the European distributor for Matan Digital Printers’ systems.
