The Quantum, which was first shown in an LED curing configuration by the Israeli firm at SGIA 2014 in Las Vegas last October, features three grayscale levels; 7pl, 14pl and 21pl. Standard ink configuration is CMYK, light cyan, light magenta, light black plus optional white.
Optional add-ons include a jumbo media handling system for rolls up to 750kg, an ID Backprint device that prints file and job information on the rear of the media, and a Vacuum Plate for turning the printer into a flatbed, which can print on pre-cut sheets of thin media up to 10mm.
The machine, which has a maximum print speed of 200sqm/hr and offers resolutions up to 1,200dpi, is specially designed for close-view indoor applications, such as POS and exhibition graphics.
On the configuration of the machine being shown at Fespa, the protective coating is applied inline with the full speed of the printing, without slowing down production. The ink can also be used to spot varnish selected areas.
“Fespa is an excellent opportunity to introduce our newest model to the European market,” said Matan president and chief executive Hanan Yosefi.
"We have developed this unique printer in answer to the industry's demand for the highest print quality for a wide variety of applications. The high quality and versatility of this unique printer can help our customers increase their profitability.”
The Quantum is available for just under €300,000 (£215,000) for the standalone machine without any of the optional add-ons.
Fujifilm distributes Matan’s superwide-format UV printers in Europe, under the Uvistar brand.
