"We wanted something that would tick all of the boxes and this really blew us away," said Ethedo print manager Paul Gray.
The two-back-four Diamond 1000 is the firm's first Mitsubishi press having been a Heidelberg house for 40 years and its first coater. It is set to be installed at the firm's High Wycombe-based factory at Christmas.
The 3.7m turnover 40-staff firm has also taken Mitsubishi's MCCS2 colour control desk as part of the press package. "Nothing will makeready quicker than this with their colour system," said Gray.
Gray also praised MLP UK's customer service and the build quality of the press, which he and managing director John Quigg saw at a Japanese print firm last year. "If there was a nuclear war, the building would be gone but the press would be left standing," he said.
As part of the spend Ethedo also bought a Perfecta B2 guillotine and new MIS from MLP UK's partners GAE and Tharstern, respectively.
