Mitsubishi chooses B1 tandem perfector to lead Ipex charge

Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses (MLP) has unveiled its plans for Ipex, which include the UK debut of its B1 tandem perfector.

"For industrial printers that want long perfectors and highly productive machines, this is the offering," said MLP UK managing director Thomas Doliwa.

The Diamond 3000TP, launched in 2002, will take centre stage on the firm's 750sqm stand. The 13,000sph press uses the firm's four cylinder Translink unit, so sheets do not have to be inverted for perfecting.

According to the firm, this means greater front-to-back registration. MLP will also be exhibiting a five-colour B2 Diamond 1000LS with coater, along with Cito RSP creasing, perforating and die-cutting system. Both of the presses will be demonstrated in a JDF
environment using the company's MAX-net network and a Tharstern MIS.

The firm has sold 81 3000TPs worldwide, with the first UK press a five-over-five to be installed at Woods of Perth, in Scotland, in July.

The sale is part of an order that will also include a B1 Diamond 3000LX, and a B2 Diamond 1000.

"It will be our showcase installation in the North," said Doliwa. MLP UK is currently investing 100,000 on refurbishing its Leeds showroom and headquarters.

The UK firm is also set to install 3000TP-long perfector at its showroom over the summer, in time for its 15-year anniversary open house in September.

Meanwhile, the company has announced that a new generation of its colour control system will be launched later this year.
MCCS 5 is currently undergoing beta testing in Japan.

It is also working with Cito to introduce inline embossing on its presses.

"Only our machines are solid enough in the bearings to take the hits that come from embossing," said Doliwa.
