The BPIF has said that some larger printers could be wasting thousands of pounds a year by not applying for the 80% climate change levy rebate that was negotiated by the federation.
BPIF president Peter Yates said: "Time and again we hear from printers that costs are high and margins squeezed. Well, this scheme can really make a difference. But it is not retrospective, so if firms dont apply they could be wasting money."
Firms that use organic solvents in their printing process are eligible for the levy rebate, although Yates said only larger companies, with a turnover of about 8m, would reap substantial benefits. One large web printer is set to save 37,000 this year.
