Elanders, which is headquartered in Sweden and has production facilities in North Tyneside and North Yorkshire, had already worked on several collaborative projects with Newcastle-based Shout Digital before entering into the partnership.
The companies hope that the tie-up, which is not a formal merger or acquisition, will enable them to "cover all bases" for their clients.
Elanders marketing executive Tony Watt said: "Recently a client asked us to print some promotional material for them but they also wanted an email marketing campaign which Shout Digital can produce.
"Shout Digital also develops mobile phone applications and it has created an online system whereby clients can have their artwork personalised for their brand."
Shout Digital managing director Gary Boon said that the two companies are each others’ "missing division".
He added: "Working alongside the existing development team, we can provide Elanders with pioneering technology and developments to ensure that they stay ahead of the competition and react to customer demand. We can enhance website builds with user experience and visuals as well as providing online digital strategy for existing clients."
Shout Digital plans to open a new office in London by the end of the year.
