ECRM Imaging Systems has decided to change its European pricing policy from US dollars to euros in a bid to boost sales of imagesetters.
The firm said the new structure would offset variations between the currencies and lead to more competitive pricing in Europe.
ECRM director of distribution Derek Sizer said: "As an international company we have always taken the line that the world market needed standard pricing. But the fluctuation of the euro against the dollar has made it difficult for our dealers in Europe to remain competitive."
ECRM is re-pricing its imagesetter range into euros against the backdrop of rising manufacturing costs in the US.
"A recent increase in imagesetter sales proves that they are a still a very cost-effective pre-press imaging solution. They are an ideal stepping stone to the all-digital workflow required for effective CTP production," said Sizer.
ECRM has also introduced a new range of 2pp TigerCat CTP platesetters aimed at smaller commercial printers.
The TigerCat 2 range, which can be supplied with a choice of red, violet or green laser, can take formats up to 610x610mm and is capable of a resolution of 3,556dpi.
"With the TigerCat 2 we are offering 2pp press users an entry into CTP, which will accommodate their current needs and those of the future," said Sizer.
The TigerCat range can also be modified to use a different laser than originally supplied, and its format can be upgraded to provide the output of the 4pp TigerCat.
