Aimed at the B3 market, it is based on its Mako capstan imagesetters, with the addition of dual precision drives. As it can expose plates up to 560mm wide, European director of distribution Derek Sizer said the capstan architecture meant any length plate could be imaged, making it possible to produce 4pp plates for A2 presses.
"Its one of the benefits of taking imagesetter technology to CTP," said Sizer. He also hinted that the Mako 2 would be the start of a range of capstan platesetters from the firm.
Using a violet diode, it can expose 25 GTO-sized silver-halide plates per hour at 2,540dpi.
The price will be 45,000 for the platesetter only.
