Based under a railway arch in Tower Hamlets, the commercial print start-up is overseen by general manager Gulzar Shuvo. It aims to serve clients in the local community, with a particular focus on printing magazines, leaflets and promotional materials for Bangladeshi businesses and residents in the area.
Incorporated in November 2016, the company spent significant time researching potential markets ahead of a major equipment haul in April this year which brought in a Ricoh Pro C7100SX production printer, a Roland DG TrueVis VG-640 printer-cutter, a Konica Minolta Bizhub C284 and a raft of finishing equipment from Duplo, Morgana and Vivid.
Print Today officially launched once all the equipment was installed and its staff had been trained up in May.
“After making such a large investment in our new equipment we are finally ready to jump into the market,” said Shuvo. “Our aim is to be a one-stop shop for the local community with everything under one roof – we have a team of production and finishing staff alongside a sales team and a designer.
“Once our website is ready, we will be able to respond to orders made online, as well as serving customers in our own community.”
All of the firm’s equipment was delivered during the tail-end of April. Its eight-machine haul from Duplo – the most prominent name in Print Today’s portfolio – was chosen after a close relationship was established between the printer and the manufacturer.
Print Today’s Duplo kit comprises a DuSense DDC-810 UV spot coater, a DC-646i multifinisher, DSF-2200 and DBM-350 bookletmakers, a DPB-290 perfect binder, an Ideal 5560LT guillotine, a CF375 Touchline folder and a Matrix MX-370 laminator built by Vivid.
Shuvo said: “Duplo equipment is incredibly user-friendly, and the salespeople we worked with have become good friends of the company. They were very helpful and understood exactly what types of products we needed.”
Rounding out the company’s finishing portfolio is a Citoborma 111 electric paper punch, an ACF 510 feeder/collator and an FSN 11 suction-fed rotary numbering machine from Morgana systems, as well as a long-arm Easi-Eye eyeletter by Presco. TheMagicTouch also supplied a Ricoh RI 100 direct to garment printer.
With a turnover target of £1.5m in its first year of operation, Print Today’s website currently lists a full offering of commercial printing and finishing, including flyers, calendars, posters, brochures, business cards and office supplies.
The firm employs 13 members of staff on its 186sqm premises and is looking to add people to its marketing team, according to Shuvo.
