This means users of Durst's Tau 330 will now be able to print metallic effects with Durst's white ink plus CMYK on a foil substrate using Color-Logic's process metallic colour system.
Durst Labels & Package Printing segment manager Helmuth Munter said: "Our partnership with Color-Logic ensures that Durst customers using the Tau 330 label press can successfully implement the latest in metallic label technology.
"Durst has tested the Color-Logic system in our laboratories and are convinced that the process produces the highest quality printing on metallic substrate. Graphic designers and brand managers can confidently specify the Color-Logic process for production on the Durst Tau 330."
Durst's UK distributor Perfect Colours has also run tests of the Color-Logic system on a Omega II wide-format printer at its London showroom, using white ink and CMYK on a Mirri Pak substrate.
While these initial wide-format tests were said to have produced "excellent samples", further testing will be required before Omega II users can also print metallics using the Color-Logic system.
Tom Gent, engineering manager at Perfect Colours, said: "The tests we've done so far have been very successful and the samples look fantastic, but from an engineering standpoint we need to test the reflective properties of the media to assess whether there could be any long-term impact on the machine.
"We are currently in the early stages of testing various materials and also evaluating Color-Logic's Process Metallic Color System."
Color-Logic sales and marketing director Mark Geeves added: "The key fact for large format is brands want their POP or signage to match up with their packaging and labels so there is a growing demand to stand out from the competition."
Durst confirmed that it is still offering the metallic silver UV ink that was launched in August 2012 for the Tau press.
"We are offering different solutions for different applications, as many clients do not want to invest in an extra print module for metallic ink if there are other suitable solutions available that allow them to cover their application needs in regard to metallic," said Munter.
