DuPont well ahead of target as it launches its Cromaprint 22UV

DuPont has made its Cromaprint 22UV digital printing system commercially available in Europe.

The Cromaprint 22UV has gone on show at the Viscom Italy show in Milan, which begins today (10 November). The  machine is an ink-jet, UV cure combination flatbed and roll-to-roll product.

DuPont exhibited its DuPont Colour Communication line of ink-jet printers at Fespa earlier this year but would not reveal when they would be commercially available.

"It was due to be commercially launched next year but we are ahead of time," said Pier Luigi Sassanelli, DuPont's global marketing communications manager.

"We decided only to launch when the performance would meet our customers' expectations," added DuPont's new business development manager Craig Reid.

The product can print on substrates including vinyl, PVC, foam, corrugated, glass and aluminium.

DuPont is also to show the Cromalin Largo at Viscom, its response to the "changing proofing market".

"There is a new space for proofing that requires less expensive and less sophisticated machinery," said Sassanelli. "We are now responding to a proofing market that has become much bigger."

He added that the machine is likely to be commercially available next year.

There are two Largo systems with one for four-up proofing and the other targeting eight-up signatures or wide-format graphics. Both systems include Cromanet RIP and colour management software.
"The Cromalin Largo offers a new, affordable operating cost," said Reid.
