The company said that the proofer, which may be unveiled at Graph Expo in Chicago, will complement its range of Digital Cromalin machines but at a price comparable with an Agfa Sherpa or similar large-format ink-jet printer.
DuPont has said its new machines will offer better workflow and contract-quality colour compared to rivals.
It was initially hoped that the new proofer might be shown at Ipex, but the firms policy of not formally announcing a product until it is within three months of shipping has held the launch back until later this year.
* Creo used Ipex to announce its Iris replacement, the Veris, but has yet to confirm pricing or shipping dates.
