We have witnessed greater demand for digital finishing systems that are flexible, said Duplo vice president of marketing Dominic Quennell. Its these developments which have led to the production of products we refer to as scaleable. By enhancing an existing system a printer can expand their business in manageable stages.
The SCC unit (slit/cut/crease) sits between a DSF-2000 sheet feeder and a DBM 500 booklet maker. It uses a camera to detect register marks to set trim, cut and crease position. Duplo developed this technology to compensate for a problem with digital presses known as image drift, where the printed image moves around on the sheet. It was first introduced on its DC-545HCEX.
It can trim the top and bottom edges of sheets and cut the head and tail, allowing bleed jobs printed on a digital press to be loaded directly into the DSF-2000 without trimming.
The DC-645, is a heavier duty version of the DC-545, which can handle heavier stocks up to 310gsm and a larger sheet size.
Duplo is also launching an option for the DBM 500 booklet maker to cut the head and foot of booklets. The DBM 2KT is an option for the DBM 500T face trimmer.
