Arriving in mid-April, the 3.2m-wide machine replaced an HP Latex 360 printer and an older Designjet L26500, while another two 360s remain onsite. The Jetrix now carries the bulk of Display Wizard’s output for exhibition materials such as pop-ups and panels.
Supplied to Preston-based Display Wizard by Papergraphics in Crawley, the LXiR320 beat out alternative options from a number of rival manufacturers.
Managing director Pete Symonds said: “The Jetrix was chosen because of its speed, price and levels of ink usage. However, the main reasons were the consistency of colour and the durability of the print compared to our Latex printers.
“HP Latexes work well for applications like vehicle graphics, but in our field, we needed something that would not heat the media and cause stress, which the Jetrix does not.
“Papergraphics gave us a great deal and, as we are currently rekindling a dormant relationship with them, we have also moved our media supply over to them. Our service to clients is now quicker, easier and cheaper with more flexibility to do what we do.”
The roll-to-roll digital LED-UV Jetrix LXiR320 can print at speeds up to 90sqm/hr with a double, four-pass printing process and a maximum resolution of 2,160dpi. It uses CMYK, light cyan, light magenta and white inks.
Display Wizard is undergoing a period of investment and expansion, having readied itself to spend £250,000 across the back end of 2018 and the front end of this year. The Jetrix fulfils plans laid down by co-founder Diarmuid Beary in December while a new unit for warehouse space is currently under construction.
Backed by a team of 22 staff, Symonds said his goal was to get the company to £3m turnover by the end of its financial year in 2020, up from last year’s count of circa £2.5m.
