Barco has introduced VipLane, a complete workflow for variable information printing.
The suite of applications covers authoring, ripping and streaming to the press at full engine speed.
Were one of the few companies offering a total workflow solution for high-production personalised digital printing, said manager digital printing Christian Verbrugghe.
VipLane supports PPML, the open standard variable data file format developed by the Print On Demand Initiative (PODi).
Variable data design is carried out using QuarkXTensions VipDesigner or VipLayout.
VipBinder then generates complete pages from design templates, for ripping or output as PPML.
Ripping is done by the FastRip/X V5, which includes ICC and Pantone colour matching. It is independent of the print engine, which is driven by PrintStreamer 2.
l Barco has just sold its 1,000th PrintStreamer to Xeikon.
This unique and scalable press server concept has become the de-facto standard for most major digital colour presses, said Verbrugghe.
Version three of the PrintStreamer is under development.
