Digital printer boosts environmental status with coating machine

CCS Digital has opened its doors to blue-chip clients with the purchase of a new Morgana DigiCoater.

As an in-house laminator, the Northampton-based digital printer was looking for a more environmentally friendly method of coating and turned to the DigiCoater in order to help it gain FSC accreditation.

Production director Paul Riley said the company had increasingly found that large companies would only deal with FSC-accredited suppliers.

Riley said: "We are going down the FSC road – we are in the final phase at the moment. The coater is environmentally friendly compared to lamination, but it is also cost effective, quicker and offers the same look."

He added that the DigiCoater was working so well that, even though the company is a short-run digital printer, it was also picking up some of its clients' longer-run work.

CCS uses an HP Indigo 3050 and specialises in a number of areas, including personalised business stationery and greetings cards.

The company has 20 employees and recorded a turnover of £1m last year, which it expects to increase in 2009.
