The machine, which was installed at its Dagenham Docks site at the end of last year, is being used to produce a mix of new business and jobs migrated from lasered litho and cut-sheet digital production.
It runs Xerox’s High Fusion Inks, which enable inkjet printing on traditional offset coated stocks, eliminating the need for pre or post treatment and supporting a range of matt, silk and gloss-coated stocks.
“Until now the quality wasn’t there with inkjet for our customers,” said DG3 managing director Barry Page.
“All the vendors' inkjet offerings now are very good, but the Trivor was particularly suitable for us as it is a single engine rather than two and we needed it to fit into a small footprint.”
Materials handling and finishing equipment was supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems, and included Tecnau unwind, rewind and cut and stack kit and a Horizon StitchLiner 6000.
The Trivor was supplied by Xerox dealer Xeretec and marked that company’s biggest inkjet deal to date.
“We’ve been assessing the Trivor since its launch at Drupa. This is the first sale we’ve made but we have several more in the pipeline,” said Xeretec group production director Steve Andrew.
In addition to the Trivor, DG3 also upgraded its monochrome cut-sheet capabilities with a Xerox Nuvera 314.
The firm's latest investment caps a major round of capital expenditure, which included a Koenig & Bauer Rapida 106 for its Leycol litho operation and an HP Indigo 12000HD B2+ cut-sheet press for its digital operation.
“This is all part of the expansion of our digital business and the ability to offer the latest technology and the highest quality to our customers,” said Page.
