Receiving its global launch at Drupa 2024, the CFG is Fujifilm’s first foray into the continuous-feed market in Europe, having already seen over 150 installations of its predecessor, the 1160CF, in Asian markets by early 2024.
Installation of the first CFG engines is expected in spring 2025.
The new model has been upgraded with a newly developed ‘paper stabiliser,’ which seeks to solve issues found in high-speed inkjet printing by regulating the moisture content of paper before printing, improving production efficiency, print and finishing quality, optimising the engine for colour books, publishing and general commercial print, even on offset coated stock.
The new machine will be shown working with Hunkeler finishing kit, including the CS8 Dynamic Cross Cutter with LS8 Long Stacker, to produce postcards live at the show, as well as a Hunkeler RW8 rewinder.
Fujifilm will likewise take part in a joint demonstration with bookbinding kit manufacturer Meccano Tecnica’s Universe automatic folding and book sewing machine to demonstrate how the Jet Press can be used for short-run book production, and with Horizon’s StitchLiner machinery to highlight instant-switch production.
“It’s a pleasure to be exhibiting at Hunkeler Innovationdays,” said Taro Aoki, head of digital press solutions at Fujifilm EMEA.
“Our participation underscores Fujifilm’s commitment to innovation and collaboration, in keeping with the ‘Connect’ theme of this year’s show.
“The Jet Press 1160CFG is a milestone product for Fujifilm. There is nothing else like it on the market, particularly with its advanced paper stabiliser. We have been market leaders for continuous feed inkjet in the Asia-Pacific region for some time and we’re now delighted to be bringing this technology to the European market.”
The 1160CFG prints at 8bit configuration with up to 1,200x1,200dpi image density from a twin engine printer. In speed priority mode, the machine can print up to 160m/min at 1,200x600dpi. It handles stocks from 64 to 250gsm, of 152.4mm to 520.7mm width reels.
Fujifilm will also show off some of its integrated inkjet technology, including the 42K Printbar and Mini 4300 Printbar engines, which can be attached to or replace analogue print engines.
