Supplied by International Graphic Supplies (IGS), the Titanium 2516 with router went in last month at Pontypridd-based DecTek.
The company’s first Titanium cutter, an 1816, was installed in June 2020 and this was followed by a Titanium 3032; two Titanium 2516s with routers, to support DecTek’s labels, signage, and short-run packaging offering; and a Titanium 0806, to enhance its digital print department.
DecTek owner Mike Beese said: “During the summer of 2020 we took the opportunity to review our business and devised a growth strategy for us and our partners. We have invested over £1m in new equipment and took on extra production space. The business now has an enviable range of digital print, cut and finishing technologies.
“The IGS team are a major part of this strategy; their Titanium cutter price and performance model coupled with the Titanium machine reliability has allowed us to expand our products, to include short-run packaging, custom packaging, bespoke boxes, and transit packaging. We are targeting low volume, high frequency work, typically with run lengths below 5,000.”
In the autumn DecTek also significantly expanded its small-format finishing and embellishment capabilities with new Duplo and Vivid kit. This followed the installation a year ago of a Canon imagePress C810 production press.
More details about the business, which serves both B2B and print resellers, can be found on Printweek’s Services Portfolio+ microsite.
Separately, in January IGS received the award for 2021 European Distributor of the Year from JWEI, the manufacturer of the Titanium cutters. IGS installed 21 of the company’s machines last year.
IGS managing director Peter Flynn said: “This award is a landmark achievement that we are particularly proud of. From a standing start in 2020 we now have 41 installations nationwide. It was fitting that we received the award from Mike [Beese], who has assisted us with many of our orders, from customers who have visited the DecTek site to see the Titanium cutters in operation.
“We can now compete and win orders that would have traditionally gone to the mainstream suppliers. Our install base includes high profile companies such as DecTek, Hamptons, Printed.com, The Colour House, and Zenith Print & Packaging. As our customer base has now identified, the Titanium technical specification and affordability is very hard to match.”
In March, IGS will launch the Titanium 0912, which has a 900x1,200mm cutting area with the ability to automatically feed 100 sheets.
