The Gwent-based printer, which was part owned by Cromwell Press, went into administration with insolvency practitioner Keith Morgan of PKF on 23 December.
According to Morgan, time was needed to work out what was owned by the company itself, what was owned by Cromwell Press, and what was owned by the Welsh Assembly Government.
However, Morgan said: "At least one party is in discussion with the Welsh Assembly Government regarding funding in order to make a purchase.
"We are looking to make a sale and I would be disappointed if something hadn't gone through by the end of the month."
CP&D was only bought out of administration by Cromwell at the beginning of last year but, the two companies are believed to have operated independently.
Cromwell Press went into administration last week.
