He said: “This has taken time. They’re [Polestar] changing, we’re changing and the industry’s changing. They believe we are agents for the change process.”
Polestar chief executive Barry Hibbert praised the leadership role now being played by the BPIF, and said that Polestar “wanted to be part of the process… we believe that collective leadership will be important in determining the prosperity of the sector”.
Polestar chief operating officer Chris Pavlosky will be the main point of contact between Polestar and the BPIF, as his remit has been expanded to include liaison with trade federations and the governement.
Johnson is meeting with Quebecor next week, and has had his first meeting with St Ives, which has a history of antipathy toward the BPIF.
“It’s not just about St Ives – all companies large and small are on my radar. If they want to improve their businesses they should bloody well get on board,” Johnson added.
