Colorscan targets 70% turnover rise following Croxsons buy

Large format printer Colorscan is eyeing a turnover increase of up to 70% over the next few years after acquiring Croxsons' digital printing business.

In addition to a Xeikon DCP500 and a raft of finishing kit, the High Wycombe-based company has taken on Bradley Hyde, formerly of Croxsons, as digital director.

Croxsons, based in Chesham, went into administration at the start of March after it was unable to recoup a bad debt which was understood to be in the region of £750,000.

Paul Grimsdale, director at Colorscan, said: "We could see how busy Croxsons had been and by adding a new digital business, it's another string to our bow."

He said the new Xeikon would complement the company's range of large format machines and allow the business to offer a more complete service to clients.

"We can now provide leaflets and other print for our display customers while also attracting new clients to the company," he added.

Grimsdale also anticipated the increased workload, which includes former Croxsons customers, would help Colorscan's turnover increase by "60-70% in the coming years".

Hyde said: "Colorscan have invested in a good, profitable business."

The Xeikon DCP500 provides full-colour digital output of 500mm wide and is claimed to be the only press of its kind within a 30-mile radius of Colorscan.

Hyde said the new print capability of the Xeikon "is likely to appeal to existing Colorscan customers" and the company is therefore expecting to grow its digital division with the new work.
