The Poole-based company was founded by managing director Paul Dawe in 1995.
CMP offers digital printing services with specialties in books, commercial printing, and CD and DVD replication.
Dawe said that books had been a growth area for the firm and now accounted for around 70% of sales.
“We tend to win clients slowly and then build up the business by doing a good job for them,” he explained.
“Books have been very much a growth area for us post-Covid, and turmoil in the market has helped us.”
The firm produces lots of short-run projects for publishers with runs typically varying from 10 to 5,000.
Business development manager Toby Culff, who joined in 2022 from TJ Books, has opened new doors for the business.
“We have more clients than ever and have added around 140 new clients in the past three years,” Dawe added.
CMP operates from a 650sqm facility which it purchased in 2000.
The firm runs two Canon VarioPrint Titan mono devices and two Canon ImagePress colour devices, along with post-press kit from Horizon for binding and trimming.
CMP had sales of £1.3m last year and Dawe expects a 35% increase in business this year, with further growth projected for 2026.
Dawe described himself as “the glue in the middle, maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers".
“Seeing so many of our staff stay with us for years, even decades, has been incredibly rewarding, we’re a strong team of 12.”
CMP operates 12-14 hour days, five days a week so the business can optimise and flex its capacity as needed.
Richard Johnson, operations head and product lead, commented: “None of what we achieve would happen without the incredible teamwork at CMP.
“Happy customers make for a happy team, and communication is key to everything we do.”
Dawe noted that in the face of numerous high-profile print company failures, it was nice to have some good news to shout about.
“I’m a glass half-full kind of person – we’re doing great, and I want to get that out there. It’s nice to have some good news.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to many more years of success, innovation, and collaboration in the ever-evolving print and publishing industry.”
