Clowes sold by administrator

Failed Manchester printer Arthur W Clowes has been sold to a consortium headed up by Bowden Investment Group.

The £3.5m-turnover business went into administration with insolvency practitioner MCR on 2 July 2009. A number of redundancies were made at the business, which continued to trade during the administration.

MCR completed the sale of the business on 16 July 2009 to Clowes Printers (Manchester), which was set up on 12 June 2009 with Steve Corrigan as its sole director.

According to Clowes, 30 jobs have been saved following the buyout, which was backed by The Co-operative Bank and Eurofactor.

The consortium purchasing the business is led by Saul Loggenberg, who said: "I am confident that this new venture will prove beneficial for customers, suppliers and staff."

Arthur W Clowes managing director Richard Clowes will stay on at the new company as general manager.
