Charity newspaper challenges North West big two

A charity newspaper has claimed to be the third highest publication in the North West, according to a reader survey.

Despite being only five years old and having a distribution of 60,000, Trinity Mirror printed health and disability publication All Together Now! has a readership of 240,000, according to the survey.

Only regional behemoths the Liverpool Echo (250,000) and Manchester Evening News (356,000) claim bigger readerships.

According to the survey, carried out by Liverpool-based newspaper reader research consultancy Murray Consulting, the bi-monthly free paper has recorded a 20% increase in its readership in the area, which the charity has put down to increased availability – it is now available in garden centres, visitor attractions and hospitals.

David Murray, owner of Murray Consultancy, said: "Unlike lots of newspapers who are losing readers hand over fist, All Together Now! is bucking the trend.

"The results are hugely impressive by anyone’s standard. Our data shows that All Together Now! is being eagerly read right across the region by people with and without disabilities."
