The workshop, aimed at representatives of pulp and paper companies and mills, will run on 30 January in Brussels and update participants on developments in the implementation of Reach (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals).
Under Reach, manufacturers and importers are required to gather information on properties of their substances, which will be used to advise safety measures, and to register the information in a central database.
The workshop will cover registration needs, in light of the fact that pre-registration of substances starts from 1 June 2008, exemptions from registration, the use of intermediates, the status of Substance Identification Exchange and pre-registration, as well as consortia formation and management.
The workshop will also encourage contact building and liaison between company representatives and staff members of the national organisations that will implement the regulations.
Reach is an EU regulation rather than a directive, which means it will apply in all member states immediately without local legislation.
The deadline for workshop registration is 21 December. Click here for more information.
CEPI organises final workshop on Reach regulation readiness
The Confederation of European Paper Industries is planning a new workshop on implementing the Reach regulations, which replace more than 40 existing directives and regulations on the use of chemicals across Europe.
