Centurion wins third bid in four months

Centurion, Communisis' print management subsidiary, has won its third major contract in four months.

The firm, bought by Communisis for 42m in May, has secured a three-year deal with Hutchison 3G, the third-generation mobile communications group.

The contract follows its appointment as managing agent for print solutions by Barclays (PrintWeek, 6 September) and the 40m extension to its Sainsbury's deal (PrintWeek, 29 November).

The Hutchison contract covers print for support services, marketing and customer communications. Its value was not disclosed.

Communisis also said the outlook for the year was in line with expectations. Tough conditions in manufacturing continued, but print management was providing growth, it said.

Centurion's contract wins would "underpin trading" in 2003, although concentrating resources on winning the deals would be reflected in this year's results.

Communisis is believed to be focusing on Centurion's contracts to illustrate that the buy is proving good value.
