The decorative print finisher is to close its Leeds Seacroft site and transfer the functions into its Hunslet plant in Leeds – a move that places "the majority" of the 29 Seacroft jobs on the line. Hunslet will now specialise lamination, screen coatings and die-cutting services.
Celloglas is also planning to move its administrative head office operations from Woodley, Reading, to the nearby Mirri site during the summer.
The latest stage of consolidation follows on from the closure of its Birmingham facility, which was incorporated into the finisher's Leicester site last month. Through that move, all employees, bar two, and machinery transferred across to the East Midlands plant.
Richard Gillgrass, managing director of Celloglas, said the merging of its Birmingham foiling business had allowed the company to "realise some business synergies" while enhancing its sales strategy in the Midlands.
Following the site consolidation, Celloglas will have three locations across England: one in Leeds; one in Leicester and one in Reading.
When the company went into administration earlier in the year, four sites, Poole, Gloucester, London and a second Birmingham facility, were closed. Two sites, Bristol and Manchester, were sold to finishing specialist Best Cover UV.
Gillgrass added: "It is expected that 2009 will continue to be a challenging period for the print industry.
"It has therefore been essential to ensure all parts of our business operate with maximum efficiency and to provide our customers with a focused specialist coating and finishing service."
Celloglas to close two more sites
Coating specialist Celloglas is to close two more sites, one production facility in Leeds and its administrative office in Reading, as part of a site review following its pre-pack administration earlier this year.
