David Kelly of PriceWaterhouseCooper has been appointed as administrator. PrintWeek understands that the company closed its doors on Friday (24 October).

A spokesman for Cartonmaster, which is based in Middlewich, said: "We deeply regret being forced to go into administration and the resulting loss of employment, but we had no choice.

"We cannot go into the circumstances for the administration as legal proceedings may follow."

A statement from the company, which employed 37 staff, said the management was making every effort to give former staff support and advice.

PWC was not available to comment at this time.
