Carlsberg hands European marketing contract to Charterhouse

Charterhouse has won a pan-European contract with brewery group Carlsberg in a deal that the Hatfield-based print manager said confirmed its position in Europe.

Chief executive Gary Mahoney said: "This is a great win for Charterhouse and one that will cement our position as a truly European print management company."

The contract, which covers Carlsberg's marketing collateral for all of its beer brands across Europe, is thought to be one of the largest ever awarded to Charterhouse.

The deal follows previous contract wins with Land Securities, the Man Group and Rolls-Royce. The company has also recently restructured its debt finance agreement with the Bank of Scotland, which owns a 20% stake in the firm.

Mahoney said: "The company is pleased to have negotiated a reduction of our debt with them, while the bank did not increase their stake in the company."

He added that the business had recorded a 15% increase in turnover in its latest accounts, albeit at a lower margin due to difficult trading conditions.
