The new version can archive documents such as Word, Excel and XML files in the PDF/A format retaining the native documents along with annotations, fonts and other elements of PDF/A.
It also offers integration with Microsoft SharePoint for use in larger office networks and the server version can now be installed as a Windows service for volume work, with load balancing to ensure robust processing power.
"With the PDF/A-3 option, it is possible to for example store and manage related files, such as an Excel file with formulas or complete CAD drawings, together in one batch," said Dietrich von Seggern, business development manager. "For companies and organisations, this offers the great advantage that all the files belonging to a certain project - whether PDF/A-compliant or not – are available in a central database."
Current users can upgrade for free, while for new users the server edition is available for €4,499 (£3,749) and the desktop version costs €379.
