Butterfly buys NexPress 2100

Start-up company Butterfly Dreams has invested in a 300,000 Kodak NexPress 2100 digital colour press with coater.

The Leeds firm produces business cards, leaflets and short-run personalised print from its base in Leeds and looked at other presses including the KBA 74 Karat, HP Indigo and Xerox kit.

"Extreme flexibility with personalisation and ease of use gave it the edge," said Steve Shackleton who co-directs the firm with Mervyn Jones and Kevin Topham.

"We liked the quality of print and the colour-management software. We are dipping our toe into an exciting pond."

Butterfly launched in March offering cutting, folding and creasing. The directors have worked in the trade for several years, most recently at Barnsley repro firm Jennings.

Sales and marketing manager Stephen Boardman makes up the full team.
