Upgrades cut patching more than 50%

Bobst pushes upgrades for Expertcut 106 PER following Drupa reveal

The Accuplaten upgrade to new models cuts patching time up to 80%

Bobst has pushed several upgrades to its Expertcut 106 PER die-cutter to market following their Drupa launch, including a retrofittable machine plate to reduce and compensate for platen deformation – reducing patching time from 50-80%.

The new ‘Zero Patching’ feature was introduced to the Expertcut 106 PER as a retrofittable extra, following the introduction of the firm’s Accuplaten system for new devices. Accuplaten and Zero Patching even out platen deformation according to pressure and based on machine-specific platen distortion, and reduce the number of sheets needed for quality checks in set-up, as well as improving final cuts and creases, according to Bobst.

“This redesigned machine platen is a game changer,” said Bodo Junge, product marketing director responsible for the die-cutter range.

“With Accuplaten, Bobst has succeeded in minimising the cutting plate's deformation and reducing patching time by up to 80%. This means less operator intervention, increased tool lifespan, and up to 15 minutes extra uptime per job.”

Part of Bobst’s upgrade package for the Expertcut 106 PER, also introduced at Drupa, was the company’s Power Register camera registration system that works with a redesigned register mark, saving up to 4mm of carton for the front register marks, shaving off up to 0.5% of the carton cost.

“It may not seem like much, but depending on the job layout, the size of the register marks, and grammage, this new system can save up to one tonne of carton for one million sheets,” explained Junge.

“Less waste also means less time and effort to remove it, which contributes to the process and workplace sustainability.”

Bobst has likewise begun a sales push on its Energy Efficiency Pack, which use more energy efficient pumps and energy recovery system to reduce energy consumption from 5 kWh per 1,000 sheets to 4 kWh.

The manufacturer’s new carbon fibre gripper bars, likewise on display at Drupa, are also available now, helping boost the Expertcut’s cycle speed up to 9,500sph from 9,000sph.
