Biking up Britain - doing Beefy's trip in reverse

Despite being in the midst of a recession, the generosity of printers to stretch themselves to their physical limits in the aid of charity has not diminished. Last week, they were running; this week, they're cycling.

Fujifilm's Alan Holt and Jim Bickley recently completed a ride from Lands End to John O'Groats that covered a whopping 1,036 miles.

Older readers may remember when Ian ‘Beefy' Botham first walked the distance in 1985, his blond mullet in tow. Since then, it has become the must-do challenge for those fond of a charity endurance attempt and Alan and Jim completed the trip in a commendable nine-day stint.

The pair's gruelling run was met with overwhelming support from both friends and colleagues, helping Alan and Jim exceed their original £10,000 target, hitting £12,654.

Such generosity must be applauded, but the giving is not over yet. You can still pledge your pounds by visiting www.justgiving.com/endtoend1000milesformacmillan.
