Following in his father’s footsteps Holloway joined the print industry in 1966 at the Reading Evening post, the first web offset regional newspaper in the UK, where he took the role of litho camera operator. He later moved on to run a small repro department at Autotrader.
Joining Kodak in 1983, Holloway has since moved from pre press consumable sales to technical sales support, marketing services, European product management and UK marketing management roles.
He said: "It’s a fantastic industry and I’ve been fortunate to be in it at such an incredible time. The progress in technology in the print industry in 46 years in unbelievable."
Holloway said he remained committed to the print industry and would be assisting the Printing Charity, in a voluntary capacity, potentially helping to improve the organisation’s reach to commercial printers.
He said: "This is a tough time and people need to know that there is a fantastic resource and support for them to fall back on if they need it."
Having just completed a three week stint as a ‘games maker’ for the London 2012 Paralympics Holloway has been bitten by the volunteer bug and now intends to spend time mentoring children at his local primary school, where he is governor, and helping them to prepare for the school’s 50th anniversary.
Reflecting on the industry ahead of his departure from Kodak Holloway said: "We are good at saying how bad things are but not great at saying how good we are. I want to see the sector become one which sells itself up more.
"The UK print industry may be a small one but we are a progressive industry that we need to encourage more people to move into by offering formal training courses and opening up opportunities that way."
He added: "This is not an industry that one can just let go of so I will certainly still be around. It’s just time to move on now. I’m looking forward to new challenges and of course I'd like just a bit of time off!"
Holloway is succeeded in his position by Kodak UK and Nordics marketing manager, David McGuinness whose previous employers include digital specialist Creo and Scitex UK.
