BemroseBooth had previously said that the sale of its print site at Wayzgoose Drive would not lead to additional job cuts, however, the company has now confirmed that it is in consultation with staff at the site.
A spokeswoman for the company told PrintWeek that BemroseBooth had now started a period of consultation at the site although she could not confirm how many jobs would be affected.
However, according to reports in the local press, around 60 staff at the site could be facing redundancy. Unite could be reached for comment at the time of writing.
The news comes as the latest employment figures from the Office for National Statistics revealed that unemployment reached 2.5m in the three months to October 2009, the highest figure since March 1995.
Meanwhile the total unemployment rate remained unchanged on the previous quarter at 7.9%.
