Investment in new machinery has also meant that the skin and blister pack specialist can branch out into the carton market.
The company had three multi-storey sites in Macclesfield, but has now moved to Stockport and a new 3,700sqm building.
Richard Clowes, managing director, said: “We have invested in new technology, and brought in bigger machines. Multi-storey multi-sites are not conducive to being efficient.”
As part of the new investment and move, the £3.5m turnover company has purchased a new Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105-6+LX.Several new employees were also brought on board meaning AW Clowes now has 60
staff on site.
AW Clowes said new staff may be required in the coming years because plans are already in place for new machines to be brought in.
He added: “The press bases we have set out are bigger than the machines we have at the moment. We have a two-colour machine in the space of a six-colour.
“We have set ourselves up for the next 10 years. If required, we will be able to introduce a bigger or faster machine easily.”
AW Clowes has also bought a new Heidelberg platesetter, a Prosetter 105, and has introduced a corporate uniform for the first time.
