Asda cuts landfill waste with recyclable board deal

Asda has become the first company to use Bezier Group's recyclable alternative to foam board in a bid to eliminate its landfill by 2010.

Eco board, which will be used for all the supermarket's hanging signs and some PoS displays, is manufactured from paper fibres and wrapped around a low-density core.

Julian Walker-Palin, Asda's head of corporate policy for sustainability and ethics, added: "Not only has Bezier helped with our environmental objectives, but they have also reduced cost through significant landfill savings and generated revenue from recycling material at the end of a product's life."

Bezier chief executive Mark Shaw said; "Our customers' challenges are also ours; we work hard to resolve their issues.

"The environment is very much at the top of everyone's agenda and, as such, we are delighted to be making real strides towards fully recyclable retail marketing campaigns."

Asda previously worked with Bezier to produce fully recyclable banners.
