The nine-week campaign was rolled out by Antalis in the UK. Each time a free-of-charge Cyclus notepad was ordered, Arjowiggins donated a year's school fees to a child from SOS Children’s Village in Vontovorona, Madagascar.
Over 6,000 customers visited the dedicated campaign website and over 4,000 customers actively participated, which has enabled Arjowiggins Graphic to achieve its goal while also reaching designers and printers in 36 countries with its Cyclus product.
Cyclus is an uncoated and coated paper range produced from 100% recycled fibres. It has a lower environmental impact than the production of virgin fibre paper, according to the manufacturer, with 37% less energy and 53% less water.
Arjowiggins Graphic operational marketing manager Angela De Vorchik said: “Education is vital to a child’s development so we are thrilled to have raised the funds for these 500 children in the SOS village of Vontovorona.
“Not only has the campaign increased customer interaction with the Cyclus brand but we have increased awareness of this great charity, whose close partnership with us is core to our business philosophy.”
SOS Children's Villages is an independent private development organisation which, through a network of over 500 villages, provides family-based care and an education to orphans or children in 133 countries that have lost parental care.
The SOS Children's Village in Vontovorona is comprised of an SOS Kindergarten, which accommodates up to 180 children, and a primary and secondary SOS school with a canteen. A total of 500 children across 13 classes will receive an education.
Last month a seven-strong team from Basingstoke-based Arjowiggins Graphic helped to revitalise a local area of ancient woodland in Chineham, Hampshire as part of the firm's focus to reduce the environmental impact of its manufacturing processes.
Arjowiggins Graphic is part of materials and paper manufacturer Arjowiggins, which has 4,000 employees and 20 paper mills worldwide and generates sales of around €1bn (£0.8bn). Arjowiggins and Antalis are fully owned subsidiaries of Sequana.
